Former Glenford Fiscal Officer Overpaid Herself
Columbus – A former Village of Glenford (Perry County) fiscal officer advanced herself more than $8,500 that she never repaid according to an audit released today by Auditor of State Dave Yost.
“A personal advance should never come out of the public purse,” Auditor Yost said. “Council needs to put the necessary controls in place to make sure that no one gets to sign their own paychecks.”
As the former fiscal officer and water clerk, Pat Ayers’ salary was established by the village. From January through October 2012, Ayers made seven payroll advances to herself totaling $8,582 that were never repaid, and thus she was overcompensated for her duties. A finding for recovery was issued against Ayers in the total amount of $8,582.
The findings in this audit will be forwarded to the Perry County Prosecutor.
