Atwater Township Audit Identifies $7,935 in Overpayments
Columbus – Nearly a dozen Atwater Township (Portage County) employees and officials received an extra paycheck, according to an audit released today by Auditor of State Dave Yost.
“Salaries have to agree with the contracts and the law,” Auditor Yost said. “This appears to be an honest mistake, but the money must still be paid back.”
Auditors determined that 11 township employees and officials each received an additional paycheck that exceeded their contracts or the allowable amounts set by the Ohio Revised Code.
During fiscal year 2013, eight employees and officials, including the township’s three trustees and former fiscal officer, received overpayments totaling $6,795. Overpayments to three employees in fiscal year 2014 totaled $1,140.
Findings for recovery totaling $7,935 were issued against the 11 employees and officials.
