Columbus – Auditor of State Dave Yost issues the following statement regarding the announcement today that state Board of Regents Chancellor Jim Petro is retiring February 1, 2013:

“Jim Petro has spent his career making government less costly and more responsive to the people,” said Auditor of State Dave Yost. “His legacy is one of undisputed professionalism and good works.”

The Auditor of State’s office, one of five independently elected statewide offices in Ohio, is responsible for auditing more than 5,600 state and local government agencies.  Under the direction of Auditor Dave Yost, the office also provides financial services to local governments, investigates and prevents fraud in public agencies and promotes transparency in government.
