Statement from the Office of Ohio Auditor Dave Yost

Monday, April 23, 2018

Columbus – At Auditor Yost’s direction, the office began evaluating how compliance testing with NICS could be conducted in mid-December. NICS compliance is not a routine area of review during financial audits because it is not material to an entity’s financial statements, but the importance of this data to public safety warranted a compliance review. The governor’s executive order will simplify some legal issues and provide the basis for the Auditor’s office to achieve our mutual goal.
